Following an application to the Big Lottery Fund by Uppingham First director David Ainslie seeking support for the Uppingham Hopper Community Bus, the partnership is delighted to announce that an award of £5878 has been made towards the bus operating costs for 2019.

Commenting on the success of his application David said, “I am really pleased with this positive response from the National Lottery. The Big Lottery Fund uses money raised by National Lottery players to help communities achieve their ambitions. From small local projects to UK-wide initiatives, its funding brings people together to make a difference to their health, wellbeing and environment. Since June 2004 £9 billion has been awarded to projects that improve the lives of millions of people. The partnership is delighted that the huge effort being made in Uppingham by all who support the Hopper is now to be supplemented by this very helpful grant. Being offered the grant is a mark of recognition for the hard work of community volunteers, passengers, local businesses, Rotary and other fund raisers determined to make the Hopper a success”.
