Vanguard Explores Uppingham’s Future Needs

A well attended meeting of the innovative Uppingham Vanguard Board on April 25th saw social and economic partners look into the town’s future and agree a range of topic areas for future debate.

Discussion guests included the Town Mayor and Deputy Mayor, the Leicestershire and Rutland Police and Crime Commissioner, an RCC Planning Policy Officer, local housing developers, Education Representatives, an Uppingham Surgery Senior Partner, the CPRE Rutland Research Officer, residents association members and directors of community partnership Uppingham First.

Issues highlighted for possible debate included the town’s infrastructure, the needs of young people, community safety, tourism, the possibility of market town apprenticeships, affordable housing, future health and education provision and the environment.

The board’s next meeting will feature the town and county’s tourism offers and the case for and against a western bypass or relief road.
