alt'Uppingham should be expanding its number and range of shops, not reducing them' a recent meeting of Uppingham Business Forum has resolved.

The  decision came in response to a debate on what amendments should be proposed to Rutland County Council in the current consultation updating the Rutland Local Plan. The draft plan currently suggests reversing the  protection afforded to shop fronts in Queen Street in the current Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan.

The  meeting also expressed its concern about the huge financial and policy effort being expended on the future of the St George's site and whether this was to the detriment of any possible future development strategy for the county's two market towns.
