Plans to build more homes to the West of Uppingham have stimulated the interest of property developers. Rutland County Council's Local Development Framework and Uppingham First publication Uppingham 2025 both agree that further housing development for Uppingham should take place to the north of Leicester Road and the south of the A47. Plans for the area could include protecting a North South bypass route. The town needs more affordable housing given the high average price of local property.

Expressions of Interest received by September will be discussed at the next meeting of the Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum. Date of the meeting will be published in the Forum's September newsletter to be delivered to every home in Uppingham.  On line comment can also be made from September on the new web based Community Message Board to be facilitated by Uppingham First.

During week commencing October 18th 2010, the Home Secretary will help initiate the rebranding by launching a new national web site for Neighbourhood Watch. The site will include new training and publicity materials as well as details of new signs and logos to be used in local communities.
Detailed implementation of the rebranding in Rutland will be discussed at the next meeting of the Rutland Neighbourhood Watch Association. The proposals will also be discussed at  a joint meeting of local Coordinators and the Rutland Local Policing Unit to be held on August 31st 2010. The renewal of local signs, which are funded by the schemes themselves, has been delayed until details of the new proposals are released.

The Uppingham Farmers Market, held on the second Friday of every month, looks set to benefit  from the increased publicity gained by the town from the recent awards won by local businesses and the Uppingham First Community Partnership's success in the 2010 Action for Market Towns Awards. An Uppingham First spokesperson reports, "There is a significant increase in interest in the market from local food producers and national agencies. We now have a waiting list of producers seeking a place on the market and the National Trust is to join us in September. Given that it costs nothing to enter such competitions, it is a cost effective method of promoting the town"

The August Farmers Market will be held on Friday August 13th.
