Community Partnership Uppingham First met recently to consider the very positive response to the launch of its five day a week Uppingham Hopper bus service. Congratulations on the creation of the service have arrived from all over the UK with national, regional and local media taking an interest.
The new service not only provides community transport for the elderly to the Uppingham Surgery and shops, but also links the town's key employment areas to the town's bus interchange, enabling workers to travel to Uppingham from Leicester, Oakham and Corby by public transport and then transfer to their employment site via the Hopper. The service only currently serves flexi-tiime workers due to its 9am to 5pm operating hours, but a study in the autumn of employee, apprentice and student needs may provide data to justify an expansion of the service. |
