altA new handbook for volunteers interested in becoming involved with UppWatch, the town's new good neighbour and community safety scheme has been produced to encourage more residents to join the initiative. Information on the project will be distributed to all Uppingham households later this month. Residents will be able to volunteer to help neighbours with a range of tasks following initial training and a DBS check.

The initiative has secured a number of grants and will complement the work being done by other charities in the town. It will also form the backbone of a text based emergency alert system as part of a new resilience plan for Uppingham.

UppWatch is the brainchild of the Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum working in partnership with the Leicestershire Rural Community Council.
