altVolunteers, residents and businesses have been praised by visitors for their efforts to prepare Uppingham's town centre and residential neighbourhoods for this week's visit by the East Midlands in Bloom judges. Months of preparation by the In Bloom team and its supporters have been complemented by a huge effort on the part of residents. The sound of many motor mowers and clippers can be heard throughout the town as front gardens, community displays, flowerbeds and verges  all receive attention prior to the Judges arrival on July 4th.

Pictured is the alleyway adjacent to the Crown Hotel, an excellent example of the efforts of local traders on public pathways and local curtilages. Fingers are crossed for a successful repeat of the town's achievements over the past three years, first place in the small town category.

altOne of Uppingham's most loved art galleries has been given one month to find new premises.

The North Street East Gallery, recently host to Uppingham's  annual 'Celebrating the Arts in Uppingham' event, is urgently seeking new premises following the  sale of its building on the corner of North Street East and Orange Street.  The gallery has been given only one month to vacate the premises with the new building owner apparently not being interested in continuing the gallery's lease.

The search is now on for a new home for the gallery which was set to be a key attraction of the new Antiques, Arts, Books and Creative Crafts Trail in the town. Information on any possible new site should be forwarded either directly to the gallery or to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
