Late Night Shopping in Uppingham 2009 PDF Print E-mail

The evening of Thursday December 10th saw the launch of a range of Christmas events in the town with a  late night shopping event enabled by Uppingham First, the town's community partnership and organised by Linda Todd, Rutland's Market Towns Manager supported by the Town Council and Rutland County Council. Visitors enjoyed  a vintage fun fair, music and Christmas Carols, charity stalls , food stalls, punch and judy, real reindeer and Santa on a Harley-Davidson.  A great night out for the family. Well done Linda! A special thank you also to Martin Hill and the team at the Falcon Hotel for hosting so many charity stalls!

The Beeches Residents' Association (BRA), an active member of the Rutland Neighbourhood Watch Association and Uppingham First, has won a Capacity Builders research grant  to explore new approaches to community engagement for Neighbourhood Watch.

Almost 100 cricket enthusiasts and local history society members attended Uppingham Town Hall today for the launch of Roy Stephenson's new book entitled HH Stephenson A Cricketing Journey: Kennington Oval to Uppingham School. Special guest at the occasion was Peter Wynne-Thomas, Nottinghamshire CCC Librarian and Archivist.

The 2009 Fatstock show has once again proved to be a successful visitor attraction. Visitors impressed by the event immediately requested the date of next year's show. See the date under 'Events'.  The Fatstock Show is unique to Uppingham in Rutland being the only event of its type to take place in a town Market Square.                                              



Neighbourhood Forum Hosts Discussion on Uppingham Carbon Challenge Fund Bid PDF Print E-mail

Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum held an open meeting on November 25th as part of a community consultation on a bid to the Carbon Challenge Fund in respect of a Community Hub for Uppingham. Commenting on the meeting, Forum Coordinator Ron Simpson said, " I found the presentation on the bid and subsequent discussion both informative and thought provoking. Ric Ellis is to be congratulated for all the hard work he has put into the bid so far".
