An application to the National Lottery Awards for All scheme has secured a grant of £7988 to support the operating costs of the Uppingham Hopper Community Bus during 2020.
Author of the bid David Ainslie, Vice Chair of the Uppingham First Community Partnership and a former Town Mayor, welcomed the outcome and confirmed that regular passengers were delighted with the news. He said, “This grant will help ensure the Hopper’s operation for a further 12 months. We are very grateful for this further recognition by the National Lottery Community Fund organisers of the Partnership’s efforts to sustain this vital community led and volunteer driven local transport.”
The Hopper is pictured with the Lord Lieutenant of Rutland Dr Sarah Furness outside the premises of Castle Car Care Ltd, the recently relaunched local business that supplies the Hopper’s tyres.
