First Full Fibre Market Town

Uppingham is this week celebrating the completion of its Gigaclear full fibre to the premise (fttp) broadband network making it the first market town in England to have a comprehensive offer of its kind.

Businesses and residents can now sign up for a symmetrical broadband service offering up to 1Gb download and upload running entirely on fibre.

Commenting on the significance of the event, broadband champion and Uppingham First director Ron Simpson BEM said, “The importance of the network to the future social and economic prosperity of the town cannot be underestimated. The network puts Uppingham in the forefront of places to live, work and study. High speed reliable broadband is so important to Education, Health Care, local business and home working. Uppingham is now definitely the place of choice for new start ups and entrepreneurs. Such economic growth is a vital component of sustainability.”
