Following an equipment upgrade the Uppingham Webcam is again streaming live pictures of Uppingham Market Place between 9am and 6pm every day and will continue to broadcast during the holiday period.
Viewers are encouraged to log in regularly to observe local event traditions. This year, however, the Cottesmore Hunt will meet for their traditional New Years Day gathering on Saturday 1st January at 11am opposite Uppingham School cricket field at the bottom of High Street East. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
The partnership regularly receives e-mails from around the UK supporting the webcam images and website postings promoting the town and local events.
Uppingham First Community Partnership Secretary Ron Simpson BEM explained that a recent equipment breakdown had provided the opportunity to upgrade the network infrastructure supporting the webcam. He said, “We are pleased to be able to facilitate the world looking in on Rutland’s premier market town. Viewers around the world receive the camera images on their desktop computers, laptops, tablets and mobile phones. As one correspondent put it. “It helps me to stay close to family and friends. The festive season is clearly a special time in Uppingham. The town centre looks beautiful with its Christmas tree and lights.”
