Uppingham Launches Search for New Post Office Business

Following the announcement of his intended retirement in 2024, long serving Uppingham Postmaster Robin Bromiley is working with the local community to find his successor.

Also this year, the Uppingham Post Office building in the market place is to be put up for sale. The owner lives in Belgium.

Award winning Community Partnership Uppingham First is working with the Post Office to promote the business opportunity, which could relocate to an alternative premise in the high street if preferred by the incoming new business owner.

Commenting on the campaign to ensure continuity of the postal service in Uppingham, Rutland, Uppingham First Director and Secretary Ron Simpson BEM said, “Now that we have lost our banks, a Post Office in Uppingham is a vital part of the life blood of the town and crucial to the sustainability of the high street. The community will work with Robin and the Post Office team to find and support a worthy successor. The town is grateful for the advance notice given by Robin. Any potential candidates will be introduced to him with a view to continuity”.

Uppingham First has launched a media campaign to attract a new Post Office Owner. The current Post Office building (pictured in a 2023 Social Sunday event) is in the market place at the heart of the town’s conservation area. Contact secretary@uppinghamfirst.co.uk for further information.
