Uppingham First director and Neighbourhood Forum Chair Janet Thompson BEM has at last been able to receive her British Empire Medal following restrictions imposed because of of Covid-19.
Janet is pictured with family members following a small ceremony in Oakham castle where her medal was presented by Rutland Lord Lieutenant, Dr Sarah Furness.
During the Covid lockdown, Janet manufactured scrubs for NHS staff, ran her Brownie pack online and chaired weekly meetings of UppWatch volunteers. She is also an Uppingham Hopper bus driver and an NHS volunteer.
