Following the retirement this month of local businessman and farmer Edward Baines from the Chair of Uppingham First, local community champion Mark Shaw was unanimously elected as the new Chair of the award winning community partnership Uppingham First at its Annual General Meeting on June 20th 2024. Lucy Stephenson was elected as Vice Chair.
Commenting on the appointment of his successor, Edward Baines said, “As an IT literate local business owner, community leader, Uppingham Hopper driver and local town councillor, Mark has the experience and comprehensive skill set to take the partnership forward with its forward looking programme of community service. I am confident he is the right choice for the future and has my personal support.”
Note: Uppingham First will publish its Annual Report in August 2024. The report will be distributed to all households in the town as well as being available online.
