Uppingham community champion Chris Merricks has been elected by Uppingham Town Council to chair the town’s Neighbourhood Plan Advisory Group (NPAG) for 2020/21.
Chris was nominated for election by a significant number of the town’s community groups and had served as the group’s vice chair during 2019/20. His appointment was welcomed by Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum Chair Janet Thompson who is also a director of Uppingham First. Mr. Merricks appointment was confirmed at the town council AGM on July 1st.
NPAG’s immediate challenge is that the existing Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan requires updating to be in general compliance with the emerging new Rutland Local Plan.
