At Uppingham First, we believe that the strength of our community lies in the willingness of its members to contribute their time, skills and passion to support one another. Our team of dedicated volunteers are cornerstone of this belief, fostering a spirit of cooperation and generosity that enriches the lives of everyone in our town.
Our Mission
The mission of Uppingham First is to create a vibrant, inclusive community where everyone feels empowered to make a difference. We aim to connect our volunteers with meaningful opportunities that align with their interests and skills, thereby enhancing the quality of life for all residents.
What We Do
Our initiatives encompass a wide range of activities, including:
· Community Events: Supporting local events such as the Uppingham Feast, Social Sundays in the market place, classic car & other community events and cultural celebrations.
· Our community support service UppWatch: Assists neighbours and the elderly, individuals with disabilities, families in need offering transportation and companionship.
· Environmental and Planning Projects: Tackling climate change by engaging with CPRE the countryside charity and supporting the preparation of the Uppingham Neighbourhood Plan.
· Health and Wellbeing: Offering support for health-related initiatives, including mental health awareness, dementia support and wellness workshops. We also manage an extensive defibrillator Network
· Tourism & Community Safety: The Uppingham Webcam promotes the town around the world in addition to helping protecting citizens and local businesses in the town centre
· Lottery Grants: operating the Rutland Lottery to give grants to local groups
· Transport: Operating the Uppingham Hopper
· Community Engagement: Administering the Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum as the voice of Civil Society in the town.

Our Volunteers Receive No Financial Benefit
