Hopper Bus

The Uppingham Hopper is a free community bus service that helps residents and visitors get around town with ease. It links key locations such as the town centre, market, garden centre, and GP surgery, and connects with buses to Corby, Stamford, and Oakham. Many use it to shop, meet friends, or attend appointments, with the option of flexible pick-up for those less able to reach bus stops.

Though free, donations are welcome to help cover running costs and can be made onboard or via bank transfer. The service is run entirely by dedicated volunteer drivers, and new volunteers are always welcome.

Thanks to support from Rutland County Council, a new bus was provided in 2025. While a trial electric bus proved unfit for use, it was replaced with the current reliable vehicle. Special thanks go to all our supporters, including Arnold Wills for storage and our generous donors.

The Hopper is also available for use by local groups outside of weekday hours, depending on driver availability. To learn more or to get involved, email: hopper@uppinghamfirst.co.uk.

Hop on, enjoy the ride, and help spread the word!
