Event presenters were BBC presenter and journalist Rupal Rajani and Educator and journalist John Coster. Jennifer was nominated for the award by the Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum at its 2018 AGM. Eight candidates were considered by an independent regional panel of judges.

Commenting on the award Neighbourhood Forum Chair Janet Thompson said, “I am delighted that Uppingham resident and Rutland champion Jennifer Fenelon has secured this award which is truly well deserved. Jennifer’s contribution to the health service both during her distinguished career and since her retirement has been outstanding. Her new project with community company ‘Rutland First’ to address the mental health challenges facing the young people of Rutland is a sorely needed and vital initiative”.
