altThe Uppingham community was represented at this year's AGM in Nottingham of One East Midlands, the lead body for the voluntary sector in the region.

Pictured is keynote speaker Sir Stuart Etherington, the Chief Executive of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), who addressed delegates on the work being done to ensure adequate voluntary sector funding to replace the European funding likely to be lost post Brexit.

A second presentation by the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership addressed the economic future of the East Midlands and touched upon the content of the government's recently released 'Industrial Strategy' which has a 'market town' development initiative within it.

Uppingham First (UF) has repeatedly urged government and LEPs' to address the economic development needs of the UK's small market town centres. The opportunities presented by the Industrial Strategy will be explored by UF Directors at their next meeting on December 12th.
