A lively meeting of Uppingham Business Forum held on April 4th 2017 and attended by Rutland County Council has addressed a number of issues for traders in the town.

Following the re-election of RMJS Associates Principal Ron Simpson BEM (pictured) as Forum Chair for a further year, receipt of an Executive Summary of the Uppingham Town Centre & Business Zones Plan and an annual report on the Forum's activities, attendees shared their concerns on the significance of huge business rate rises, unlicensed street hawkers, problematic mobile signage and the impact of supermarket theft.

Also discussed were the proposed road closures to resurface the High Street, the next steps in trying to reduce the social and economic impact of the traveling fair, broadband in the high street and outcomes of a recent meeting with the Chief Executive of the Local Enterprise Partnership. It was noted that the town's efforts to forward plan on economic development matters were held in high regard at national and regional level.
