altResidents of Uppingham and its surrounding villages are being urged to attend a meeting in Uppingham to discuss the proposed changes  to NHS hospitals in the area.

The NHS has published a draft Strategic Transformational Plan (STP) which includes proposals to close Leicester General Hospital, the maternity unit at Melton and the beds at Rutland Memorial Hospital. The Plan also proposes a Home First strategy for future care requiring a considerable re-deployment of resources. Its authors now wish to engage with the public, explain its rationale and proposed actions and hear public concerns.

The meeting will be held in The Falcon Hotel on Thursday January 26th commencing at 6.30pm. Come early for a good seat. Among the audience will be members of the Uppingham Neighbourhood Forum and Board members of Uppingham First. The draft STP can be seen here.
