MP Congratulates Uppingham First on Regional Award PDF Print E-mail

The Rt Hon Alan Duncan MP has congratulated Uppingham First on winning the 'Business and Economy' Category of the 2010 East Midlands Market Towns Awards. The Partnership had entered its Hi Speed Wifi Project into the prestigious awards competition.

Judges described the initiative as  "An excellent quality project which covered a number of facets including business, but with a strong social element". 

Commenting on Alan Duncan's 'well done' message and news of the win, Uppingam First Chairman Robert Wills said, " This is more good news for Uppingham. Directors are delighted that our wifi initiative with Rutland Telecom has been acknowledged in this high profile competition. We look forward to attending the awards ceremony in July and thank Alan for his supportive remarks".

Partnership Seeks Local Photographs PDF Print E-mail

Uppingham First is seeking photographs for the 'Around Uppingham' section of its web site at www.uppinghamfirst.co.uk

The Partnership is to further develop the site to assist visitors to Rutland. Suitable subjects might include views of Uppingham's fine buildings, neighbouring beauty spots such as the Eyebrook Reservoir and Rutland Water and photographs of local events such as the Feast, The Flower and Produce Show and the Fatstock Show.

Payment will be made for photographs published. Local residents or amateur photographers able to help should contact the Partnership Secretary at www.uppinghamfirst.co.uk

Police Seek More Volunteers PDF Print E-mail

Rutland Neighbourhood Watch Association is calling for more retired residents to consider volunteering to help the police in an administrative role. An interesting and varied role is promised to anyone  able to give at least one day a week of their time to assist in Oakham Police Station. Suitable applicants would have to undergo a Criminal Records check.
