The Uppingham and Lyddington bid to represent the East Midlands in the Enterprising Britain 2010 Awards has been shortlisted by the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA). The joint  submission was drafted and submitted by Uppingham First, the town's Community Partnership, supported by officers of Rutland County Council.

Commenting on the shortlisting Uppingham First Chair Robert Wills said, "This national competition presents a unique opportunity to promote Rutland and the achievements of the Uppingham and Lyddington communities. Businesses such as Babybond and Rutland Telecom have done very well this year in other regional competitions and community groups have secured an number of awards in recent times. We hope their success will assist our chances of securing the East Midlands nomination".

Next step in the competition is a presentation to regional judges on July 12th 2010.
