altLocal Artisans and Craft Traders have praised the outcomes of Uppingham's first charity organised commercial Christmas Craft Fair held in The Falcon Hotel. The event was organised by the Rotary Club of Uppingham. The Fair will now become an annual event contributing to the income of local artisans, craft traders and charitable causes supported by Rotary. This year the latter included the Uppingham Hopper.

Early feedback from traders included such observations as:- "Thank you for organising this event. I did really well and am very grateful to have an outlet for my work. Footfall was really good". "Thank you for organising a great Christmas Craft Fair. One of the best! The room and atmosphere and the range of crafts was ideal. The footfall of visitors was wonderful".  "Thank you to the organising team. A great day". "I look forward to participating in any future events".

Plans are now under way to organise a 2018 Christmas Craft Fair. This year's Fair had a waiting list of traders hoping to participate in the event of a cancellation. The possibility of expansion is being explored. A meeting of volunteer drivers for the Uppingham Hopper has confirmed they are keen to see the service restored in 2018. Additional volunteers are now being sought to expand the pool of available drivers, but sufficient staffing is available to ensure the project can go ahead in January 2018. The search is now on for a suitable bus.

The new service will incorporate an updated route and an amended timetable will be published. Bus sponsors and donors are being asked to make their  financial contributions by the end of November. These include a £25k five year interest free loan loan from Rutland County Council.

altLeaders of the Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul have been praised for the organisation of the 2017 Uppingham Service of Remembrance held on Sunday November 12th.

A packed church saw the military, blue light services, civic leaders and many community groups and residents gather to remember and give thanks for all those who gave their lives in the service of the nation.

Following the service the congregation were led out to the war memorial in the grounds of the church where an Act of Remembrance (pictured) included the laying of wreaths, and the last post, followed by a two minute silence.
